AEC offers Virginia EMT-Basic,
NREMT-Intermediate and NREMT-Paramedic Programs. The intermediate
and paramedic programs are located primarily in Manassas
(SJVFD), but we do have other sites where we teach. See our Campus Information
page for more details.
AEC's NREMT-Intermediate
program offers
currently certified EMT-Basics the opportunity to expand their
knowledge of EMS skills from basic life support to advanced
life
support. This transition from BLS to ALS is not one to be
taken
lightly, and it is this reason why we recommend that prospective
students have some previous experience as a BLS
provider. However, with proper instruction and true
dedication on the students' part, the experience will be very
rewarding. The class consists of 304 hours of classroom
learning
and 232 hours of clinical/field training. A complete
breakdown of required clinical hours and competencies can be found here.
Reading assignments, homework,
quizzes and
exams will be given on a regular basis. Classroom sessions
will
meet from 7:00pm to 10:00pm twice a week and on many Saturdays from
9:00am to 4:00pm. In order to graduate, students must
maintain a
class average of 80% and meet minimum attendance
requirements.
For further details on this class, please see our program policy manual
or contact our office at (301) 748-9981.
AEC's NREMT-Paramedic program offers
currently
certified NREMT-Intermediates a chance to take what they
have learned and applied as intermediates and further their
education. This program is similar to our
intermediate
program in the number of classroom/clinical hours, patient contacts and
administration of homework, quizzes and exams. Classroom
sessions
mirror the intermediate schedule. For further details on this
class, please see our program policy manual or contact our office at
(301) 748-9981.
